Among the many great things to do in New Jersey, Atlantic City and the Jersey Shore just to name a couple, there are a vast amount of delicious breweries you can visit. We regret that we had to narrow the list down to just 10, but can ensure that these are keepers for locals and visitors. So, please, visit as many of these breweries as you can while in New Jersey.

Double Nickel Brewing Company

Double Nickel is considered one of the staples in the New Jersey craft beer community. They might not have the largest selection, but they have a wide enough pallet to attract people with all kinds of tastes. From golden ales to Belgians, to IPAs, you can find something tasty at Double Nickels.

Location: Pennsauken Township
Favorite Beer: Double Nickel IPA
Website: dnbcbeer.com

Fort Nonsense Brewing Company

Fort Nonsense is more of a local spot, it’s small and intimate. They literally make and store the beer in the back room, which is visible from the taproom bar, which gives it more of the “homey” feel. As cool as some of the bigger breweries are, there’s something to be said about the smaller spots.

Location: Denville
Favorite Beer: In Full Effect (New England IPA)
Website: www.fortnonsensebrewing.com

Brix City Brewing

When we think of a nice, chill brewery, Brix City is one that comes to mind. It has the cool, rustic feel with the brick bar, barrel tables and wooden benches, making for a really cool place to be all year round. They have a cool selection of spiced beers if that’s what you’re into.

Location: Little Ferry
Favorite Beer: Triple Powerbomb
Website: www.brixcitybrewing.com

New Jersey Beer Company

If you couldn’t tell by the name, New Jersey Beer Company is kind of the staple of New Jersey beer. They have a great selection of different beers, all of which are delicious (from what we’ve tried). They’re really big on Untappd (perfect for traveling beer fans). Best of all? They offer really good rates for their taproom, so definitely give them a shot.

Location: North Bergen
Favorite Beer: Pit Boss (Double IPA)
Website: njbeerco.com

Flounder Brewing Co

For a really cool taproom packed with all of the cool beers and dishes you could want, absolutely go to Flounder Brewing. Flounders is one of those breweries that resembles more of a restaurant because of how good the food is and how relaxed the atmosphere is. They do lunch and dinner, each meal designed to complement one of their awesome ales, porters or stouts, all of which will make you want to buy a six to bring home.

Location: Red Bank
Favorite Beer: Stout ‘N Donuts
Website: www.flounderbrewing.com

Departed Soles Brewing Company

Departed Soles Brewing Company is one of the newer breweries around and it shows. But that’s not a bad thing by any means, it shows that they have their own energy, which is refreshing if you ask us. It draws a younger crowd, but not the obnoxious kind, which is one reason they have our stamp of approval. Oh yeah, their IPAs are great, especially in the summer!

Location: Jersey City
Favorite Beer: Horse Play IPA
Website: www.departedsoles.com

Jersey Girl Brewing

It’s all about the beer variety at Jersey Girl. Sure, it’s a fun time, but to us, the quality of the product outways the experience, but that might be just us. The beers they have are very unique and so delicious, many of which you can’t find in stores so they’re a real treat. It can get a little loud at later hours, so we see it as more of a lunch spot.

Location: Hackettstown
Favorite Beer: Hazy IPA
Website: www.jerseygirlbrewing.com

Alementary Brewing Co

Alementary is all about the experience. They give really fun and engaging tours and they even let you try some of their batches (some of which are new). The staff is really nice, only thing is to check their schedule in advance because they run a lot of events, so if that’s what you want, awesome if you want a quiet tour plan accordingly.

Location: Hackensack
Favorite Beer: Warship (Porter)
Website: www.alementary.com

Source Farmhouse Brewery

Imagine if a brewery had a child with an ice cream parlor… the product would be Source Farmhouse. Sounds weird, right? It is, but guess what, their batches are really good and as unique as they come. Go for lunch and try as many of their drinks as possible, just be aware many of them are on the thicker side.

Location: Colts Neck
Favorite Beer: Watts For Breakfast
Website: sourcebrewing.com

Carton Brewing

You can find a really cool little spot in Carton Brewing. They occasionally have live music which is fun. They do tours as well, but we elected to spend all of our time in the taproom. We suggest their IPAs, very refreshing, but somehow doesn’t skimp on hopps.

Location: Atlantic Highlands
Favorite Beer: 077XX
Website: cartonbrewing.com

A majorly underrated aspect of New York State is the Upstate region north of the city. Filled with beautiful farms, mountains and lakes, it’s a great destination for vacations of all types. While there, we strongly suggest paying these breweries a visit!

NAME: Industrial Arts Brewing Company
LOCATION: Gamerville
FAVORITE BEER: Industrial Arts Wrench IPA

Inside the Industrial Arts Center lyes a beautiful brick-laid brewery specializing in wheat-brewed blends. If you’re not a fan, they have plenty of other styles to choose from. Aside from the actual beer, the location is gorgeous and a perfect destination from spring to fall.

NAME: Hudson Valley Brewery
LOCATION: Beacon
FAVORITE BEER: Good Old Neon (Sour IPA)

We’re big fans of the ambiance here, it has the rustic feel you’d expect with the area, but with a modern approach that fits with a brewery of its quality. They’re probably one of the best breweries to visit on this list when it comes to the array and quality of their brew.

NAME: Brewery Ommegang
LOCATION: Cooperstown
FAVORITE BEER: For The Throne (Strong Golden Ale)

Any baseball fans here? While you’re visiting the Baseball Hall of Fame, you’re about 15 minutes away from this behemoth of a beautiful brewery. Surrounded by giant gates like the Wonka Factory, Ommegang is known for making some of the best Belgian ales around.

NAME: Defiant Brewing Co
LOCATION: Pearl River
FAVORITE BEER: Fake News (New England IPA)

You can find a warm, yet chill experience at Defiant Brewing Co. With a large taproom big enough to fit parties, fun tours and a delicious comfort food menu, you’re bound to have a great time. It’s definitely one of those places you have to go more than once.

NAME: Galaxy Brewing Company
LOCATION: Binghamton
FAVORITE BEER: Andromeda IPA

There’s a really cool brewery right in the heart of Binghamton that has everything from tours, sports leagues, music and delicious food. The revolving door of fun is guaranteed to keep you wanting to come back.

NAME: Cooperstown Brewing Company
LOCATION: Cooperstown
FAVORITE BEER: Squeeze Play (Double IPA)

Great for hops and even better for fun, Cooperstown Brewing Company is part of Cooperstown’s pledge to provide excellent drinks to the public. The town has an actual trail where you can stamp all of the breweries/wineries/distilleries for free merch. Check their calendar for all kinds of fun events they have going on.

NAME: https://commonrootsbrewing.com/
LOCATION: South Glens Falls
FAVORITE BEER: Continuum (Modern IPA)

Common Roots is great for going during the day, maybe before lunch. They have a nice little taproom and delicious beer available. The variety of quality probably stands out more than anything else, particularly with their hoppier blends.

NAME: https://www.sloopbrewing.com/
LOCATION: East Fishkill
FAVORITE BEER: Confliction (Sour Ale)

Get groovy at Sloop for an overall day (or night) of fun. Not only do they have good food, but we’d probably rank them as one of the better places to eat in the area and the menu is perfectly suited for what they have on tap.

NAME: Newburgh Brewing Company
LOCATION: Newburgh
FAVORITE BEER: GigaBoss DIPA

We enjoy Newburgh not only because of how good the beer is but because it’s more of a local hangout. Some breweries can get really loud and crowded, but this is more of a chill environment where you can enjoy a quiet setting.

NAME: Ithaca Beer Co
LOCATION: Ithaca
FAVORITE BEER: Flower Power

You can find a really unique beer experience at Ithaca Beer Co because of the experiments they run. They brew all kinds of Frankenstein-esc beers that are awesome for flights because they aren’t in distribution like their normal lineup.

In the beautiful state of Oregon lies some popular and lesser-known breweries that are tasteful in more ways than one. If you’re around, we strongly suggest you visit each spot on this list. Hopefully this doesn’t make you too thirsty!

Block 15 Brewery & Tap Room
Location: Corvallis
Favorite Beer: Brute IPA

This beautiful brewery/taproom has expanded for a good reason and that’s because their beer is delicious and their staff is nice. Some things in life are really that simple. If you want a little more substance than a tour and a beer, check out one of their restaurants.

pFriem Family Brewers
Location: Hood River
Favorite Beer: Dank IPA

Another classic is pFriem, which is right in Hood River. There’s a really nice tasting room right outside of where they start (and end) their tour, for excellent drinking convenience. They have some tasty apps and a pretty solid selection of their year-round brews, so nothing to complain about.

Arch Rock Brewing Company
Location: Gold Beach
Favorite Beer: State of Jefferson Porter

What Arch Rock lacks in size and “stature” it made up for with friendliness and warmth. It’s one of the smaller breweries and might not have a huge variety, but you can expect a nice taste from every sip, coming from a really cool bartender in their taproom.

Bend Brewing Company
Location: Bend
Favorite Beer: Spot Market IPA

Perfect for a spring afternoon, we’re going to start by telling you to just visit Bend Brewing. It’s another brewery/restaurant that is built for more than a couple hours; you can pretty much spend the day here. There’s plenty of space to sit outside, which is great because inside can get a bit crowded.

Caldera Brewery & Restaurant
Location: Ashland
Favorite Beer: Pilot Rock Porter

You know what we like more than an experience? A solid selection of excellent quality beers, a collection they’ve been building for almost 25 years. Honestly, what more can you ask for? They do have really good pizzas that go great with their pale ales, so we suggest going that route.

Brewers Union Local 180
Location: Oakridge
Favorite Beer: Union Drew IPA

Brewers Union does things differently and we like that. It might not be the best brewery/pub that we’ve seen, but that’s ok because it’s unique. Plus it is very good, so that doesn’t hurt its cause. You get an experience resembling an English pub with bar food, pool and the regular banter you might expect. It’s a niche shake-up from the usual place we might visit.

Base Camp Brewing Company
Location: Portland
Favorite Beer: Send It IPA

Everyone likes to get settled at a nice base camp, and you can do that here, only this one makes their own beer! The taproom is huge and pet-friendly so you’ll often find a nice pupper to pet and the staff likes to mix up the atmosphere with fun events like live music, movie night, trivia and more.

Ambacht Brewing
Location: Hillsboro
Favorite Beer: G++ Ale

It seems like every (or at least most) states have a good Belgian-inspired brewery and this is Oregon’s. It’s run in kind of an old school way, but that’s refreshing to see and the beer speaks for itself. Personally, Belgian beer isn’t necessarily our favorite but is great once in a while.

7 Devils Brewing Co
Location: Coos Bay
Favorite Beer: Symbiosis Fig Stout

It might not be the best brewery on the list, but it’s a very respectable venue. They feature live music outside with tables, perfect for the afternoon. They have really good stouts, among other things, but really, you have to try their stouts.

Alesong Brewing & Blending
Location: Eugene
Favorite Beer: Common Nectar

The last brewery on the list certainly isn’t the least. They make excellent beer and really put their heart on their sleeve. They have a great selection of barrel-aged brews that have a plethora of different flavors and aromas.

Who would have guessed Sacramento one of the biggest hipster cities has a ton of breweries with great beer? We did. If you happen to be in the area, we strongly suggest you check out these breweries!

NAME: Tower Brewing
FAVORITE BEER: Sunny Arvo – Southern Hemisphere Hops

Tower is less of a brewery and more of a funhouse that brews and serves delicious beer. They have everything from game nights, to live music and even yoga. That’s right, yoga. Oh yeah, the quality of the beer is really high too.

NAME: New Helvetia Brewing Company
FAVORITE BEER: Northeast Land Park IPA

Think of New Helvetia as the “local spot” when it comes to breweries. Travelers are still welcome though. New Helvetia has some of the best beer on this list, as tough as it is to make that choice. The variety and unique flavors are enough to excite any beer enthusiast.

NAME: New Glory Craft Brewing
FAVORITE BEER: Imperial Pie Kettle Sour

When we think of “brewery purists” in the California area, we think of New Glory. With flavors ranging from citrus ales to cake stouts, you’re sure to find something that tickles your fancy. While you’re there, you can check out their food menu, while not as done up as others, is more than what you would expect at a brewery.

NAME: Big Sexy Brewing Company
FAVORITE BEER: Call of Lupulhu DoubleIPA

A brand with personality to match the distinct flavor of their product. Their beer is super popular in the area and is sold all around and for good reason. While not huge, the taproom is a fun place to try them all and hang out with the staff, who are really cool.

NAME: Fieldwork Brewing Company
FAVORITE BEER: Amnesia Haze IPA

They have locations all over the west coast, but the main one in Sacramento tends to stand out for us (not that we’ve been to the others anyway…). Whatever, the point is Fieldwork Brewing has among the best variety that you’re going to find on this list, so they should probably be on the top of your list if you’re doing flights.

NAME: Track 7 Brewing Company
FAVORITE BEER: Left Eye Right Eye Double IPA

There’s always been a cool vibe that’s gone with Track 7 Brewing and it speaks to you when you visit any of their locations (and when you take a sip from one of their cans). They’ve made a name for themselves in just under 10 years with no sign of going back, which you’ll be thankful for. It’s a great place to go if you’re looking to stay for a bit, they have great food trucks that come by, including tacos every Tuesday!

NAME: Alaro Craft Brewing
FAVORITE BEER: La Luna Nitro Oat Stout

Alaro Craft turns your quest for beer into an event. It’s like a brewery/restaurant hybrid that attracts big crowds for big reasons. Their cuisine is a nice mix between American bar and Mexican, which is ideal for those trying new beers. The energy matches the flavors, so don’t sleep on Alaro!

NAME: Urban Roots Brewery & Smokehouse
FAVORITE BEER: Kind for Nothing IPA

We would characterize Urban Roots as an… entertaining brewery. Here, you can pick up some delicious barbecue and maybe catch a flick. Pretty cool combination, right? They have a really nice, open patio which is great for groups on a nice spring/summer day.

NAME: Big Stump Brewing Company
FAVORITE BEER: Forever Famous

Big Stump is a beautiful brewery that gives the vibe of an authentic experience. They do lots of tours and sometimes have fun events like trivia and live music. Best of all? You guessed it, the beer. Check the availability and pay them a visit.

NAME: Sacrament Brewing
FAVORITE BEER: Cachique Session IPA

There’s another bar/brewery/restaurant and it’s Sacrament Brewing! They have a HUGE burger menu and they even do brunch. Also, they have beers from other breweries, which makes for a place with excellent variety that anyone would agree with.

Cigar City Brewing

Location: Tampa
Favorite Beer: Jai Alai IPA

From their year-round beers to their specialty brews, Cigar City never fails to impress us. The quality of their beer is what made them a national brewery over the last few years. They have a cute little tasting room and offer tours of the brewery every day but Sunday. You won’t regret it!

M.I.A Brewing

Location: Doral
Favorite Beer: Neon White IPA

We’re not usually into as many floral, mosaic beers, but M.I.A does them right! Designed to be enjoyed outside, M.I.A’s array of beers satisfy just about anyone’s cravings (and thirst). Like the intention of their beer consumption, the energy of the brewery is very active, hosting events fairly regularly.

Due South Brewing Company

Location: Boynton Beach
Favorite Beer: Category 5 IPA

Due South is a beautiful beach-themed brewery that offers everything you can ask for. Seriously, they even have competitors’ beers available! They have short but at the same time pretty extensive tours and lots of great food too. Due South is more of an afternoon trip, rather than a quick stop.

Wynwood Brewing Company

Location: Miami
Favorite Beer: Lock On

A small, intimate taproom with lesser-known beers might just be what you’re looking for. The constant cycling of beers on tap ensures you’ll never grow bored and the daily specials keep your budget in check. The variety of blends is what really stood out to us, this stop is more for the flavors than the experience.

Deadly Sins Brewing

Location: Winter Park
Favorite Beer: The Grove

The atmosphere is among our favorites here at Deadline Sins. It’s a very active crowd that loves to run on Thursdays and have a fun array of live music playing on the weekends. Pet-friendly, with a relaxation guarantee, you can always count on a fun time. Oh yeah, the beer is pretty tasty too!

3 Daughters Brewing

Location: St. Petersburg
Favorite Beer: Whiskey Porter

We can appreciate 3 Daughters for their unique selection of beers. Most places have the essentials, then a few different styles for variety, but 3 Daughters totally dances to their own drum. We particularly enjoy their stouts and porters. In addition to the drinks, they have a really solid food selection to the point that they’re basically a restaurant.

Green Room Brewing, LLC

Location: Jacksonville Beach
Favorite Beer: Double Overhead

The Green Room is among one of the more inclusive communities. They hose everything from running clubs, to ping pong tournaments all in the name of fun. Their seasonal beers are pretty special, definitely check out their sour and gose beers. The taproom is a BYOF and is dog-friendly, so feel free to have a family picnic with some of the best beer in the area!

7venth Sun Brewing

Location: Dunedin
Favorite Beer: America FYA

The small, cozy taproom is often pretty relaxed – perfect for trying some of the awesome beers. We admit 7venth Sun is probably one of the less eventful breweries on our list, but it’s not bad to take a break. Bottom line, the beer here is worth all of your attention!

Idyll Hounds Brewing Company

Location: Santa Rosa Beach
Favorite Beer: Divide & Conch’r

Idyll Hounds is all about getting some sun with your brew! They open bright and early, so you can drive down to the beach afterwards – we consider Idyll Hounds more of a stop, but a fun one at that.

Riptide Brewing Company

Location: Naples
Favorite Beer: Barrel Aged Dark Sour

An all-around ball of fun, Riptide will take you away! It has just about everything you look for in a solid brewery, from live music to food trucks, games, and oh yeah… great beer! They have a really cool, tight community that’s always down to have a lot of fun!

Whether you live in or around Maine, or you’re there for a relaxing vacation, we’d be happy to add another dimension to your experience. While Maine might be known for fresh, delicious seafood and gorgeous scenery, they have a surprisingly impressive beer selection. Maine might be one of the most underrated places to find great brew, and we’ll explain how with our 10 favorite spots!

NAME: Moderation Brewing Company
LOCATION: Brunswick
FAVORITE BEER: Box Shop Girls (Breakfast Stout)

Despite their name, there’s nothing “moderate” about Moderation Brewing Company. The brewery/taproom features a beautiful rustic aesthetic that reflects a cozy coffee shop. They have books, board games and even host trivia night twice per month.

NAME: Foundation Brewing Company
LOCATION: Portland
FAVORITE BEER: Galacticon (Triple IPA)

Talk about a brewery that wears their name on their sleeve – these guys are absolutely passionate about the product they manufacture. You can almost feel the pride in the air, but then you get distracted by all of the fun things going on. For the full experience, we suggest getting a flight to try it all!

NAME: First Mile Brewing Company
LOCATION: Fort Kent
FAVORITE BEER: Valley Haze (New England IPA)

Located in Fort Kent (which is basically Canada), locals are not only spoiled with beautiful views and landscapes but now with delicious local brew. While their year-round selection might not have the widest variety, you can expect high quality from every sip. They also host bi-weekly events to keep the fun flowing.

NAME: Maine Beer Company
LOCATION: Freeport
FAVORITE BEER: Lunch (IPA)

When it comes to delicious beers, Maine Beer Company is amongst the top of our list for all breweries, period. Truly amazing. The tasting room is huge and open pretty much every day, offering tasty food like pizza, burgers, wings and more all day long. Whether you want a tour, or would prefer to bring a party, definitely try Main Beer Company.

NAME: Lone Pine Brewing Company
LOCATION: Portland
FAVORITE BEER: Tessellation (Double IPA)

If you’re looking for a fun, unique experience, you might want to give Lone Pine a shot. They really have a knack for incorporating personality with their craft and it shows in their beers and both of their tasting rooms (Portland and Gorham).

NAME: Northern Maine Brewing Company
LOCATION: Caribou
FAVORITE BEER: Skidder Grease (Stout)

Located way up in Northern Main (also basically Canada) is a beautiful plot of land that crafts some awesome brew. You know what else they have? Their own chef that makes gourmet food, which honestly, we couldn’t think of anything better to have with great craft beer! We’d come here over just about any restaurant in the area.

NAME: Allagash Brewing Company
LOCATION: Portland
FAVORITE BEER: Tripel (Golden Ale)

We visited Allagash once on a cold night and we were amazed at how toasty and warm the place (and staff) were. You should visit if you like an array of events, ranging from music to arts, parties and more. It’s a place that combines variety with comfort in a way that utterly impressed us.

NAME: Grateful Grain Brewing Company
LOCATION: Monmouth
FAVORITE BEER: Numinous (Double IPA)

Oh man, the variety of tasty beers that come from Grateful Grain excites us just writing about it! It’s one of the newer breweries in Maine, but you wouldn’t really think so by going there. The brewpub is open Friday-Sunday and is known as a cool little hangout spot. Lots of fun if it isn’t too crowded!

NAME: Oxbow Brewing Company
LOCATION: Newcastle
FAVORITE BEER: Infinite Darkness (Imperial Stout)

For a vintage feel and a belly full of beer, you have a few options at Oxbow. The brewery is in Newcastle, but they also have a taproom in Portland and a beer garden in… you guessed it, Oxford. All three are excellent choices! Their Saisons and Stouts are especially worth trying among all of their other brews.

NAME: Bissell Brothers Brewing Company
LOCATION: Portland
FAVORITE BEER: Nothing Gold (Double IPA)

We like their style and love their beer. Many breweries tend to specialize in a type of beer or two, then slowly branch out. Not Bissell Brothers. They have a wide array of IPAs, lagers, stouts and more to ensure there will be something for everyone and we can vouch for the taste of just about all of them!

Just off New York City, Long Island, home to famous beaches, cuisines, entertainers. Did we mention the breweries they have on hand? From Nassau County to Montauk, you can find excellent beers and breweries to tour in the process.

These are our favorites in no particular order:

NAME: Barrier Brewing Co
LOCATION: Oceanside
FAVORITE BEER: Daddy Warbucks

Barrier is actually one of our favorite breweries, period. It’s obvious just how much time they put into their beer and it shows with every sip. Arguably some of the best IPAs we’ve ever had, between Daddy Warbucks and Money IPA.

NAME: Greenport Harbor Brewery
LOCATION: Greenport
FAVORITE BEER: Otherside IPA

Way out there on the east end, you can find the Greenport Brewery. They have like a shack/hall where they host their events, which doubles as a taproom. There’s not much other than fields around, so it forces people in and to come together. We’ve never not had a fun time here, especially when they have food trucks around (always the best).

NAME: Sand City Brewing
LOCATION: Northport
FAVORITE BEER: Burning The House Down

Another home for artisan beer, Sand City rivals the best. What the brewery/taproom lacks in size is made up for with quality and variety. Their shop is unique as well, they even sell soaps that smell like stouts!

NAME: Great South Bay Brewery
LOCATION: Bay Shore
FAVORITE BEER: Hoppocratic Oath

If there’s one thing Great South Bay knows (other than beer) it’s Long Island culture. Their brewery often hosts events, does giveaways, sponsors local events (like the Great South Bay Music Festival) and is just loads of fun.

NAME: Moustache Brewing Co
LOCATION: Riverhead
FAVORITE BEER: Scorpion Drawer

Located on Eastern Long Island, Moustache offers a more modern take on the East Coast Brewery. Like others, they’re tons of fun and host seasonal events, which are always fun times.

NAME: Oyster Bay Brewing Company
LOCATION: Oyster Bay
FAVORITE BEER: NE IPA

Living on the North Shore, Oyster Bay Brewing Company is a small, but energetic establishment. The taproom is nice and the selection is good enough, but we enjoy the location because you can get a bite to eat afterwards at Sweet Tomato or Taby’s Burger House. Food and beer just go together.

NAME: Blue Point Brewery
LOCATION: Patchogue
FAVORITE BEER: Beach Plum Gose

Blue Point recently moved locations from a small shack, to taking over an old campus on main street. With more space means they can brew more, with still plenty of room to entertain. Their pub is always fun with live music and they host seasonal events with games and contests, so it’s a cool place to hang out.

NAME: Montauk Brewing Co
LOCATION: Montauk
FAVORITE BEER: Wave Chaser IPA

WAY out east in Montauk, you can find… the Montauk Brewery. It’s another small brewery/taste room that’s right in town, near a couple of good pizza spots. Montauk is usually a pretty quiet spot, but crazy packed during the summer so pick your visit time wisely.

NAME: Spider Bite Beer Co
LOCATION: Holbrook
FAVORITE BEER: Open Wide DIPA

Spider Bite is relatively new, but man do they know beer! They’re kind of known for regularly producing high-quality concoctions at a fast rate. Their tasting room is open afternoons 5 days a week and is great for small parties.

NAME: Destination Unknown Beer Company
LOCATION: Bay Shore
FAVORITE BEER: Tripel Rainbow

Great for parties and events, Destination Unknown Beer Company seems like just that, unknown. And that’s what makes it unique and a great time. They have space for large parties where people can try new beers – what can be better than that??!?

Oskar Blues Homemade Liquids & Solids
City: Boulder, Longmont, and Oakroom
Favorite Beer: Blue Dream IPA

Oskar Blues and its unique style is not only one of our favorite Colorado breweries, but national breweries as well. They have such great variety from their Blue Dream IPA, G’Knight, Old Chub, Death By Coconut and so much more! As far as the brewery and tap room are concerned, they have a nice array of blues and rock music on a wide-open venue, which can sometimes include a spur of the moment basketball game. It’s a really cool place – we recommend it! If you aren’t in Colorado, (because Oskar Blues has gone national) you can likely find their delicious brew in your local beverage distributor!

Avery Brewing Company
City: Boulder
Favorite Beer: Maharaja IPA

When it comes to quality, it’s hard to top Avery. We especially enjoy their sour ales because of their quality and uniqueness. We’d not had a ginger or apricot sour ale before our journey and they completely blew our minds. The only thing you can only have a couple before your stomach becomes a pool of acid, but that’s beside the point!

New Belgium Brewing
City: Fort Collins
Favorite Beer: The Hemperor

While New Belgium may be known mainly for their hit “Fat Tire” beer, they are so much more than that! We’re big fans of the hemperor, sour ales, and voodoo ranger collections in particular. You can visit their brewery for tours or for Fat Tire Friday, which is always lots of fun.

Boulder Beer Company
City: Boulder
Favorite Beer: Spaceman Double IPA

Every brewery has their own culture and traditions and Boulder has one that we thought was pretty memorable. After going for a tour you can grab a delicious bite to eat – they have excellent choices for lunch and dinner (we love the buffalo chicken flatbread).

Left Hand Brewing Company
City: Longmont
Favorite Beer: Nitro Milk Stout

Nitro Milk Stout was the first nitro beer we’ve ever had and we certainly have not looked back! They have a solid range of beers that go far beyond nitro beers – they’ve especially branched out with their recent seasonal brews that have really taken us back. But let’s talk about the culture! Left Hand is active within their community, participating in the bike ride for MS and the Longmont Humane Society. It’s fair to say these are pretty good guys, so go for a tour soon!

Odell Brewing Company
City: Fort Collins
Favorite Beer: Myrcenary Double IPA

With two taprooms (Fort Collins and Denver) offers double the fun and adventures. They have all kinds of fun, active events at both taprooms (like the winter bike from work bash) and have live music pretty regularly. Add the awesome food trucks that they usually have at the brewery and it makes for a great day (or night).

Odd 13 Brewing
City: Lafayette
Favorite Beer: Noob Pale Ale

Do you like beer and comic books? If so, Odd 13 Brewing is the place for you! They have a comic-themed thing going on with characters and settings that take their brewing experience to the next level. The brewery is decorated with action-y things and they have a store with merch surrounding all of their beer comic characters. You can check their schedule to see which food trucks will be present at what days, as they have a cycle of some sort, which adds a nice touch of variety for regulars.

Call To Arms Brewing Company
City: Denver
Favorite Beer: Really, Realy, Ridiculously Good Tasting

This brewery has personality! Call To Arms has a fun, artsy kind of feel. You can count on tons of fun – there are events like twice per week and they range from food to music, comedy, and active-themed. We’d say Call To Arms is probably the unique child of the bunch here.

Ratio Beerworks
City: Denver
Favorite Beer: Hold Steady

We don’t know about you, but we absolutely LOVE aged beer. Ratio Beerworks ages some of their (better) beer in bourbon and scotch barrels. The authenticity of their beer is matched with the environment at their taprooms. There’s tons of cool art and a nice variety of bands that visit for live music.

Denver Beer Company
City: Denver
Favorite Beer: Incredible Pedal IPA

We hope you like saisons and other beers with sweet aromas! You can find anything from “pedal power” to “pretzel assassin amber” lagers here so get your taste buds ready. With plenty of room and regularly new taps – this is the spot to hang in Denver! They also know what their customers want – they have large warm pretzels that go PERFECTLY with their beer!

We find awesome beer brewed all over the United States (and beyond). We’ve already focused on the two heaviest hitting beer states in New York and California, so we figured we would tackle some of the gems in the Midwest. We’re sure you’ve heard of some of these breweries, though we imagine some are also new (a few are very small). So take a load off and check out the top 10 midwest breweries to visit!

Company: Founders Brewing Company
Location: Detroit, Michigan
Favorite Beer: Centennial IPA

Founders has been a long-time favorite of ours for quite a long time. They are one of the (if not the) largest national breweries from the midwest and most beer connoisseurs have had at least one brew from Founders. From their popular session “All Day IPA” to their more aggressive “Backwoods Bastard” Porter, we can all find a delicious beer here.

Their brewery came up in the mid-1990s, which we consider the “golden age of craft beer”. This was the time when microbreweries started to surface and gave rise to the wonderful world of beer we see today. The taproom has plenty of beers ready on draft and an awesome deli that goes perfectly with their brew!

Company: Great Lakes Brewing Company
Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Favorite Beer: Hop Madness Double IPA

Great Lakes is in the middle of the Ohio City neighborhood, which is a fun area with a warm midwestern culture. Their 7-barrel brewhouse offers plenty of classic and new beers to try and the brewpub has awesome bar food. We recommend starting with the pub bites and going with the mac and cheese. You really can’t go wrong (unless you’re lactose intolerant).

Company: Lagunitas Brewing Company
Location: Chicago, Illinois
Favorite Beer: Aunt Sally

Honestly, what can we say about Lagunitas? Technically they started in California, but their main brewery is in Chicago, so we’re including them here. They are one of our favorite all-time breweries for two reasons. 1) Lagunitas IPA is the best (easily accessible) national IPA and 2) the variety of beers they have is excellent. Everything from their lagers to IPAs, to sour ales, are wonderful and they’re always coming out with new stuff.

Naturally, a large, popular beer brand is going to have a fun brewery and boy do they deliver! From the live music a few times per month, to the delicious bar food, Lagunitas is a great spot to grab a drink and have a fun night out.

Company: Revolution Brewing
Location: Chicago, Illinois
Favorite Beer: Galaxy-Hero IPA

You like beer in cans? Than Revolution is for you. We see them as a very modern brewery with a “hoppy” way of doing things. They have quite a few seasonal beers (Rosa is really good) so visits throughout the year can vary, making it a relatively new experience each time.

The brewery isn’t the biggest, but is intimate and always delivers the warm feeling of being surrounded by high-quality beer. If we’re being honest, you’re visiting for the drinking experience.

Company: 3 Floyds Brewing Company
Location: Munster, Indiana
Favorite Beer: Dreadnaught IPA

This is something that I love about the new age of craft beer – the creativity! The designs and brand identity around the different beers are awesome! It’s like they each have their own personality.

Complimented perfectly by their delicious IPAs, are their appetizers, pizzas, and sandwiches. The quality is great and prices are fair. The tables are kind of small, but they won’t stop you from bringing a few friends to enjoy a fun outing.

Company: Sun King Brewing
Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
Favorite Beer: SKB IPA

There’s no way around it, Sun Kind is awesome! The brewery/tasting room is like a mini Wonka factory in the way it’s designed and we are into it! You know what annoys us? Breweries with like 6 taps – that’s the worst! You won’t have to deal with that here, there are plenty of classic and experimental blends.

Company: New Glarus Brewing
Location: New Glarus, Wisconsin
Favorite Beer: Hop Hearty

Who likes brewery tours? We do and New Glarus offers multiple tours (with guides or self-guided). The merch is a fun idea, they give you take-home glasses with your first drink, which is something other breweries should do. We all love souvenirs, but don’t want to have to grossly overpay for them! We appreciate a slightly better experience, just a notch above a planned social gathering. Be in the moment!

Company: Surly Brewing Co.
Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota
Favorite Beer: Hop Forward

Speaking of tours, this is the place! It’s “Surly” a large brewery and the tours don’t hold back. This company stands for quality beers and caring about what they make! If you’re truly a fan of beer, you’ll love it here for the taste and the showings.

Company: DryHop Brewers
Location: Chicago, Illinois
Favorite Beer: Milkstachio

This is heaven for people who love hoppy IPAs! As good as the beer is, the brewery isn’t a whole lot to look at. But we had to include them for two reasons: their brew and burgers (oh man). The burgers really impressed us, this is not a normal place for a beer and a burger!

Company: Heavy Riff Brewing Company
Location: St. Louis, Missouri
Favorite Beer: Left Coast Envy IPA

We love the beer selection and think this is the go-to brewery to visit in St.Louis. They also have a few good ciders, which can break it up and please more people in your group of friends. And can you say barbecue? As much as we love bar food, we love the classic St. Louis twist they add to their delicious menu. Get the sliders when you go!
