If you’ve ever been in the market for a used car, you know just how stressful it can be. The expectation of getting something you like mixed with the risk of investing in a giant hole in your wallet can make for quite the emotional roller coaster. This is why we want to help you avoid all the drama. Consider this article as your personal checklist when looking for your next used car. Each tip allies whether you’re at a used car lot or Facebook Marketplace.

Consider The Mileage

This might go without saying – of course the mileage will affect the car’s value. But in some cases, the mileage can be just a number. For instance, you’ll want to consider how often you intend to drive this car. Lower mileage is always better, but 100K might be more feasible than you’d think if you don’t have a long daily commute.

Next, look into the make and model of the vehicle. Some cars tend to last longer than others, with multiple variables ranging from its engine, to computer systems and many other factors. You’ll never be able to fully anticipate all potential risks, but researching the most common issues for said make and model might narrow down some of your risks.

Review Its Fuel Economy

As with the mileage, the fuel economy will be vastly more important, depending on how often you intend to drive your car. While it might sound extreme at first, the price you’re paying for fuel on a monthly basis can really add up, especially if the car lasts you for 3-5 years. Just think about an extra $20 per month in expenses for 3 years – that’s a whopping $720! Consider whether you’ll be driving more on highways or residential areas, too as this is significant for certain types of cars.

Compare The Engine Type With Your Lifestyle

Naturally, the stronger your engine, the more your car will be able to handle. But as expected, you’ll be paying a premium for better, stronger engines. So just as with the other factors, you’ll have to weigh the cost of the investment vs what you’ll really need. We’re sure you know this, but just in case… if you’re planning on towing anything, don’t skimp on the engine.

Amenities

If you think this is entirely trivial because you just want something that gets you from point a to point b, you can skip this. But having even just a few bells and whistles can really change the experience you have with your car, especially if you drive often.Think to yourself “is this something I will enjoy (or at least appreciate) for up to a few years”?

Review The Car’s History

Even the best looking cars aren’t what they appear to be. Especially if the price seems ‘too good to be true’. So before potentially making a huge money-burning mistake, take a few days and spend $39.99 on a single Carfax report.

Carfax will outline major points in the vehicle’s history, like:

past accidents

major mechanical work, like engine and transmission replacements

amount of past owners

maintenance dates and records

Consider The Style

Again, if you’re just a “point a to point b” kind of person, this shouldn’t concern you much. But for the rest of us, the kind of car we drive kind of defines us. It’s not that we won’t drive a car that’s not to our liking, but more than we’d rather not if we can spare the extra few dollars. So really think to yourself – is this a car I’ll be somewhat happy and proud to drive for the next 3-5 years?

Weigh Its Safety Features

Safety is important and while some of the highest levels of safety features found on vehicles like Volvo, you might be surprised what more economically-priced cars have to offer beyond seat belts and airbags.

Check The Car’s Insides

Did the past owner(s) upkeep the car’s interior? This is really important, especially if you’re going to be driving this car for a while. Factors like:

maintaining leather seats

maintaining leather seats

maintaining leather seats

the reception on the radio

are all things that, at the very least impact the value and potential joy you can get out of your used car

Finally: Weigh The Total Pros and Cons

With all of these factors considered, simply weigh the potential risks and rewards. Keep in mind there’s never a guarantee when buying a used car. It keeps some people up at night, while others find it to be part of the fun!

Among the many great things to do in New Jersey, Atlantic City and the Jersey Shore just to name a couple, there are a vast amount of delicious breweries you can visit. We regret that we had to narrow the list down to just 10, but can ensure that these are keepers for locals and visitors. So, please, visit as many of these breweries as you can while in New Jersey.

Double Nickel Brewing Company

Double Nickel is considered one of the staples in the New Jersey craft beer community. They might not have the largest selection, but they have a wide enough pallet to attract people with all kinds of tastes. From golden ales to Belgians, to IPAs, you can find something tasty at Double Nickels.

Location: Pennsauken Township
Favorite Beer: Double Nickel IPA
Website: dnbcbeer.com

Fort Nonsense Brewing Company

Fort Nonsense is more of a local spot, it’s small and intimate. They literally make and store the beer in the back room, which is visible from the taproom bar, which gives it more of the “homey” feel. As cool as some of the bigger breweries are, there’s something to be said about the smaller spots.

Location: Denville
Favorite Beer: In Full Effect (New England IPA)
Website: www.fortnonsensebrewing.com

Brix City Brewing

When we think of a nice, chill brewery, Brix City is one that comes to mind. It has the cool, rustic feel with the brick bar, barrel tables and wooden benches, making for a really cool place to be all year round. They have a cool selection of spiced beers if that’s what you’re into.

Location: Little Ferry
Favorite Beer: Triple Powerbomb
Website: www.brixcitybrewing.com

New Jersey Beer Company

If you couldn’t tell by the name, New Jersey Beer Company is kind of the staple of New Jersey beer. They have a great selection of different beers, all of which are delicious (from what we’ve tried). They’re really big on Untappd (perfect for traveling beer fans). Best of all? They offer really good rates for their taproom, so definitely give them a shot.

Location: North Bergen
Favorite Beer: Pit Boss (Double IPA)
Website: njbeerco.com

Flounder Brewing Co

For a really cool taproom packed with all of the cool beers and dishes you could want, absolutely go to Flounder Brewing. Flounders is one of those breweries that resembles more of a restaurant because of how good the food is and how relaxed the atmosphere is. They do lunch and dinner, each meal designed to complement one of their awesome ales, porters or stouts, all of which will make you want to buy a six to bring home.

Location: Red Bank
Favorite Beer: Stout ‘N Donuts
Website: www.flounderbrewing.com

Departed Soles Brewing Company

Departed Soles Brewing Company is one of the newer breweries around and it shows. But that’s not a bad thing by any means, it shows that they have their own energy, which is refreshing if you ask us. It draws a younger crowd, but not the obnoxious kind, which is one reason they have our stamp of approval. Oh yeah, their IPAs are great, especially in the summer!

Location: Jersey City
Favorite Beer: Horse Play IPA
Website: www.departedsoles.com

Jersey Girl Brewing

It’s all about the beer variety at Jersey Girl. Sure, it’s a fun time, but to us, the quality of the product outways the experience, but that might be just us. The beers they have are very unique and so delicious, many of which you can’t find in stores so they’re a real treat. It can get a little loud at later hours, so we see it as more of a lunch spot.

Location: Hackettstown
Favorite Beer: Hazy IPA
Website: www.jerseygirlbrewing.com

Alementary Brewing Co

Alementary is all about the experience. They give really fun and engaging tours and they even let you try some of their batches (some of which are new). The staff is really nice, only thing is to check their schedule in advance because they run a lot of events, so if that’s what you want, awesome if you want a quiet tour plan accordingly.

Location: Hackensack
Favorite Beer: Warship (Porter)
Website: www.alementary.com

Source Farmhouse Brewery

Imagine if a brewery had a child with an ice cream parlor… the product would be Source Farmhouse. Sounds weird, right? It is, but guess what, their batches are really good and as unique as they come. Go for lunch and try as many of their drinks as possible, just be aware many of them are on the thicker side.

Location: Colts Neck
Favorite Beer: Watts For Breakfast
Website: sourcebrewing.com

Carton Brewing

You can find a really cool little spot in Carton Brewing. They occasionally have live music which is fun. They do tours as well, but we elected to spend all of our time in the taproom. We suggest their IPAs, very refreshing, but somehow doesn’t skimp on hopps.

Location: Atlantic Highlands
Favorite Beer: 077XX
Website: cartonbrewing.com

A majorly underrated aspect of New York State is the Upstate region north of the city. Filled with beautiful farms, mountains and lakes, it’s a great destination for vacations of all types. While there, we strongly suggest paying these breweries a visit!

NAME: Industrial Arts Brewing Company
LOCATION: Gamerville
FAVORITE BEER: Industrial Arts Wrench IPA

Inside the Industrial Arts Center lyes a beautiful brick-laid brewery specializing in wheat-brewed blends. If you’re not a fan, they have plenty of other styles to choose from. Aside from the actual beer, the location is gorgeous and a perfect destination from spring to fall.

NAME: Hudson Valley Brewery
LOCATION: Beacon
FAVORITE BEER: Good Old Neon (Sour IPA)

We’re big fans of the ambiance here, it has the rustic feel you’d expect with the area, but with a modern approach that fits with a brewery of its quality. They’re probably one of the best breweries to visit on this list when it comes to the array and quality of their brew.

NAME: Brewery Ommegang
LOCATION: Cooperstown
FAVORITE BEER: For The Throne (Strong Golden Ale)

Any baseball fans here? While you’re visiting the Baseball Hall of Fame, you’re about 15 minutes away from this behemoth of a beautiful brewery. Surrounded by giant gates like the Wonka Factory, Ommegang is known for making some of the best Belgian ales around.

NAME: Defiant Brewing Co
LOCATION: Pearl River
FAVORITE BEER: Fake News (New England IPA)

You can find a warm, yet chill experience at Defiant Brewing Co. With a large taproom big enough to fit parties, fun tours and a delicious comfort food menu, you’re bound to have a great time. It’s definitely one of those places you have to go more than once.

NAME: Galaxy Brewing Company
LOCATION: Binghamton
FAVORITE BEER: Andromeda IPA

There’s a really cool brewery right in the heart of Binghamton that has everything from tours, sports leagues, music and delicious food. The revolving door of fun is guaranteed to keep you wanting to come back.

NAME: Cooperstown Brewing Company
LOCATION: Cooperstown
FAVORITE BEER: Squeeze Play (Double IPA)

Great for hops and even better for fun, Cooperstown Brewing Company is part of Cooperstown’s pledge to provide excellent drinks to the public. The town has an actual trail where you can stamp all of the breweries/wineries/distilleries for free merch. Check their calendar for all kinds of fun events they have going on.

NAME: https://commonrootsbrewing.com/
LOCATION: South Glens Falls
FAVORITE BEER: Continuum (Modern IPA)

Common Roots is great for going during the day, maybe before lunch. They have a nice little taproom and delicious beer available. The variety of quality probably stands out more than anything else, particularly with their hoppier blends.

NAME: https://www.sloopbrewing.com/
LOCATION: East Fishkill
FAVORITE BEER: Confliction (Sour Ale)

Get groovy at Sloop for an overall day (or night) of fun. Not only do they have good food, but we’d probably rank them as one of the better places to eat in the area and the menu is perfectly suited for what they have on tap.

NAME: Newburgh Brewing Company
LOCATION: Newburgh
FAVORITE BEER: GigaBoss DIPA

We enjoy Newburgh not only because of how good the beer is but because it’s more of a local hangout. Some breweries can get really loud and crowded, but this is more of a chill environment where you can enjoy a quiet setting.

NAME: Ithaca Beer Co
LOCATION: Ithaca
FAVORITE BEER: Flower Power

You can find a really unique beer experience at Ithaca Beer Co because of the experiments they run. They brew all kinds of Frankenstein-esc beers that are awesome for flights because they aren’t in distribution like their normal lineup.

Traveling to Philadelphia? Why Not Eat Your Way Around the State?

Philadelphia is a great city- not so small as to become boring, and not so large that one cannot take it all in in a few days. But after you dine at Bookbinders, take in the Art Museum, and of course, gaze at the Liberty Bell you might be wondering, ‘What’s next?’ While in recent years Philadelphia has become a great dining destination, it would be remiss not to recommend a day trip of two beyond the burbs to sample the best of Pennsylvania’s amazing food culture. Visitors to Ben Franklin’s favorite city and state might be astonished to learn that many of their favorite all-American foods are in fact, Philadelphia and/or Pennsylvania proud, and not found anywhere else. Other edibles are so popular, that other parts of the U.S. claim to have ‘invented’ them. This year, plan a trip to the City of Brotherly Love and/or the Keystone state and let your taste buds be the judge!

Philly Cheese Steak
Upcycled but never equaled the original Philly cheesesteak sandwich is made from wafer-thin (frozen raw for easy slicing) strips that are always grilled on a flattop, alongside translucent onions and melted Cheez Whiz, served on a long, toasted, hoagie (submarine) roll.

Soft Pretzels
Outsized, breadlike, and topped with salt by the chunk, these confections are meant to be served hot, fresh, and with a squeeze of sharp mustard. There are stores that cater to numerous sweet and savory varieties of soft pretzels and folks have been known to travel several states just to buy them by the box. A big box. Okay, a very big box- a carton in fact!

Pepper Pot Soup
Remember that children’s fable ‘Stone Soup’ wherein townsfolk hoarding foodstuffs brought them out to add them to the pot to make soup from ‘stones’? At Valley Forge during the Revolutionary War enterprising cooks made pots of stew from vegetable pairings, tops, tripe, and the only spice they had in abundance, pepper. Try it on a wintery day!

Scrapple
Another food item born out of necessity, like Pepper Pot Soup, Scrapple is made from, well, pork scraps, and is truly an acquired taste. If like this author, your mom came from Penn Dutch Country, you were raised on it. In which case, like Pepper Pot Soup day, you did not enter the kitchen on Scrapple day ‘cuz the smell of the raw ingredients was far worse than the end product. Which, truth be told, once combined with cornmeal and fried in bacon fat, was actually, quite tasty and very filling! More Scrapple, please!

Chow Chow
Another Penn Dutch variant said to come from Germany and/or Poland, Chow Chow is a winter condiment or side dish served cold with sandwiches. An example of ‘waste not, want not’ any veggies that did not fully mature by the first frost were not allowed to wither on the vine. Instead, they were chopped, combined with vinegar and sugar and canned. Now you know what to do with those late bloomers (cauliflower, tomatoes, carrots, beans, eggplant, zucchini, peppers, and cukes) who will never mature!

ShooFly Pie
The first time this author was served this pie, it was at Gran’s house. Thought she had forgotten the fruit, but that’s how it is- a gelatinous confection made from molasses and brown sugar with a pastry crust. That glorious crust is then dotted with confectioner’s sugar and served warm, or at room temperature with a dollop of whipped cream. You will not miss the fruit!

Red Eggs
Dyed with beet juice, brined or pickled, these hard-boiled eggs are customarily served at every festive occasion and never, ever chopped nor mixed with mayonnaise!

Teaberry Ice Cream
Yet another regional favorite that has not yet ‘caught on’ with the rest of the nation, Teaberry ice cream is a tint below Pepto Bismol’ and tastes like Wintergreen. This may explain why the rest of us are slow to follow PA’s lead, at least on this regional treat. It is a commercial product available from several regional manufacturers and sold in grocery stores. At your own peril, people.

Birch Beer
Often confused with root beer, or the once-popular sarsaparilla, birch beer tastes pretty much the same. Only it is made from the bark of birch trees. How? Lawd only knows and, like teaberry ice cream, he can keep this recipe to himself as well!

Lebanon Bologna
Italians are renowned for their superior charcuterie including salami, mortadella, and prosciutto. In Pennsylvania in the 1700s, German immigrants brought the recipes for their versions of smoked sausage meats with them as well. You guessed it, they settled in what came to be known as Lebanon, PA. These tangy slices make a great sammie and taste like a sweet yet tangy salami. That is, if salami tasted sweet and tangy! Try it!

What are the takeaways for a couple of weeks spent exploring the food legacy of European immigrants who settled in Pennsylvania? A thicker waist, perhaps a couple of new food fetishes, but definitely genuine respect for those who made something from nothing and let nothing go to waste.

A lot of people want to get the most car for their money, so where do you start? Cheaper doesn’t always mean value, so we’re going to break down the top Asian car brands and decide which is best (luxury brands not included).

Honda

Favorite Model: Honda CRV
Safety: 8
Power: 7
Efficiency: 7
Style: 8
Luxury: 6
Overall Ranking:7.2

We’re pretty big fans of Honda. They have a great lineup of practical vehicles with many great features standard. They might be a little pricier than other brands, but you’re getting more value, so give them a shot.

Hyundai

Favorite Model: Hyundai Sonata
Safety: 7
Power: 7
Efficiency: 7
Style: 7
Luxury: 6
Overall Ranking:6.8

Hyundai is another brand that provides solid value. The creator of the 10-year, 100,000 warranty builds their name for a reason and it’s because they make quality and affordable products. The one potential issue? Many of the features are no longer standard, so the price doesn’t always fit the end-line.

Kia

Favorite Model: Kia Optima
Safety: 7
Power: 6
Efficiency: 7
Style: 7
Luxury: 5
Overall Ranking:6.4

From the same makers of Hyundai, Kia offers a similar product. There are ups and downs, relative to their manufacturing counterpart and overall we agree that they’re worth looking into. They’re starting to get more into electric cars, so check that out for an affordable alternative to other brands.

Nissan

Favorite Model: Nissan Maxima
Safety: 6
Power: 6
Efficiency: 7
Style: 6
Luxury: 7
Overall Ranking:6.4

For a solid balance of nice features and good mileage, Nissan might be the best choice for you. We see Nissan as hit or miss, depending on which sales are going on, for whatever reason, it seems like they have some of the best promotions that go on.

Toyota

Favorite Model: Toyota Rav4
Safety: 7
Power: 7
Efficiency: 6
Style: 5
Luxury: 6
Overall Ranking:6.2

We believe the strength of Toyota is in their crossovers and SUVs. While their sedans are solid, we don’t think they match up to the others, so if you find a good deal, great, but otherwise suggest going with the larger models. Maybe stay away from the trucks.

Mazda

Favorite Model: Mazda6
Safety: 6
Power: 7
Efficiency: 6
Style: 8
Luxury: 7
Overall Ranking:6.8

For a few more bucks, you can size up to a more sporty look in a Mazda. They’re not as strong in varying conditions but can be great for warmer climates and have some fun features that might pique your interest. Interiors might take the cake on this list, if not, top 3.

Subaru

Favorite Model: Subaru Impreza
Safety: 8
Power: 7
Efficiency: 7
Style: 8
Luxury: 8
Overall Ranking:7.6

Subaru is a little pricier, but worth it in our opinion. You get great packages with award-winning safety features, plus the cars are known to last a long time, relative to its competition. Some of their crossovers can do pretty well offroading, just don’t get too ahead of yourself.

In the beautiful state of Oregon lies some popular and lesser-known breweries that are tasteful in more ways than one. If you’re around, we strongly suggest you visit each spot on this list. Hopefully this doesn’t make you too thirsty!

Block 15 Brewery & Tap Room
Location: Corvallis
Favorite Beer: Brute IPA

This beautiful brewery/taproom has expanded for a good reason and that’s because their beer is delicious and their staff is nice. Some things in life are really that simple. If you want a little more substance than a tour and a beer, check out one of their restaurants.

pFriem Family Brewers
Location: Hood River
Favorite Beer: Dank IPA

Another classic is pFriem, which is right in Hood River. There’s a really nice tasting room right outside of where they start (and end) their tour, for excellent drinking convenience. They have some tasty apps and a pretty solid selection of their year-round brews, so nothing to complain about.

Arch Rock Brewing Company
Location: Gold Beach
Favorite Beer: State of Jefferson Porter

What Arch Rock lacks in size and “stature” it made up for with friendliness and warmth. It’s one of the smaller breweries and might not have a huge variety, but you can expect a nice taste from every sip, coming from a really cool bartender in their taproom.

Bend Brewing Company
Location: Bend
Favorite Beer: Spot Market IPA

Perfect for a spring afternoon, we’re going to start by telling you to just visit Bend Brewing. It’s another brewery/restaurant that is built for more than a couple hours; you can pretty much spend the day here. There’s plenty of space to sit outside, which is great because inside can get a bit crowded.

Caldera Brewery & Restaurant
Location: Ashland
Favorite Beer: Pilot Rock Porter

You know what we like more than an experience? A solid selection of excellent quality beers, a collection they’ve been building for almost 25 years. Honestly, what more can you ask for? They do have really good pizzas that go great with their pale ales, so we suggest going that route.

Brewers Union Local 180
Location: Oakridge
Favorite Beer: Union Drew IPA

Brewers Union does things differently and we like that. It might not be the best brewery/pub that we’ve seen, but that’s ok because it’s unique. Plus it is very good, so that doesn’t hurt its cause. You get an experience resembling an English pub with bar food, pool and the regular banter you might expect. It’s a niche shake-up from the usual place we might visit.

Base Camp Brewing Company
Location: Portland
Favorite Beer: Send It IPA

Everyone likes to get settled at a nice base camp, and you can do that here, only this one makes their own beer! The taproom is huge and pet-friendly so you’ll often find a nice pupper to pet and the staff likes to mix up the atmosphere with fun events like live music, movie night, trivia and more.

Ambacht Brewing
Location: Hillsboro
Favorite Beer: G++ Ale

It seems like every (or at least most) states have a good Belgian-inspired brewery and this is Oregon’s. It’s run in kind of an old school way, but that’s refreshing to see and the beer speaks for itself. Personally, Belgian beer isn’t necessarily our favorite but is great once in a while.

7 Devils Brewing Co
Location: Coos Bay
Favorite Beer: Symbiosis Fig Stout

It might not be the best brewery on the list, but it’s a very respectable venue. They feature live music outside with tables, perfect for the afternoon. They have really good stouts, among other things, but really, you have to try their stouts.

Alesong Brewing & Blending
Location: Eugene
Favorite Beer: Common Nectar

The last brewery on the list certainly isn’t the least. They make excellent beer and really put their heart on their sleeve. They have a great selection of barrel-aged brews that have a plethora of different flavors and aromas.

A lot of people talk about buying American-made products, which isn’t hard to argue, but where do you go from there? Which are the best American brands? Today we’re going to break down America’s top car brands and decide which is best. We’ll be breaking down each brand by 5 unique categories and ranking them accordingly. The total number will give us the best overall rank for the respective brand.

Ford Motor Company

Favorite Model: Mustang
Safety: 6
Power: 8
Efficiency: 7
Style: 6
Luxury: 6
Overall Ranking: 6.6

For over 115 years, Ford has represented American-made in the factories and on the road. Their cars have evolved as much as any, ranging from heavy-duty trucks to hybrid sedans and high-end sports cars. While they may have improved over the years, Ford vehicles are known to break down more than others, though their trucks are very respected. With that said, your choice in brand should depend on what you need in your car.

Chevrolet

Favorite Model: Corvette
Safety: 6
Power: 7
Efficiency: 7
Style: 6
Luxury: 7
Overall Ranking: 6.6

When we think of Chevy, we think of variety. They have a range of muscle cars, trucks, smart cars, SUVs and sports vehicles large enough to pique someone’s interest. The main perk would be having a strong, sustainable engine, however, most models don’t come with a competitive amount of features standard.

Chrysler

Favorite Model: Chrysler 300
Safety: 7
Power: 7
Efficiency: 6
Style: 7
Luxury: 7
Overall Ranking: 6.8

We’re a fan of Chrysler in the sense that it offers a good level of luxury at a relatively reasonable price. The power is a nice touch, but efficiency in certain areas is touchy. Other than the 300 model, we would recommend the vans, like Town and Country, otherwise might suggest something else.

Dodge

Favorite Model: Dodge Durango
Safety: 5
Power: 9
Efficiency: 5
Style: 6
Luxury: 6
Overall Ranking: 6.2

You can get a lot of power with just about all Dodge vehicles, but they tend to lack in other areas. Off-roading isn’t exactly their strong suit and additional features can lead to an expensive car or truck. Most people get Dodge for the name.

Cadillac

Favorite Model: Cadillac CTS
Safety: 7
Power: 7
Efficiency: 8
Style: 9
Luxury: 9
Overall Ranking: 8.0

We see Cadillac as the king of American luxury and for good reason. They offer stunning features and provide a strong balance of drivability and style. They’re more money than most brands on this list, but for good reason.

Tesla

Favorite Model: Model S
Safety: 8
Power: 8
Efficiency: 10
Style: 8
Luxury: 8
Overall Ranking: 8.4

Teslas have become a driving force in electric vehicles and have taken the tech world by storm. With their full touch screen dashboards and top-of-class acceleration, it’s no mystery as to why they’ve become so popular. However, much of that depends on how accessible charging stations are in your area, so do your research on those first.

Lincoln

Favorite Model: Lincoln Navigator
Safety: 8
Power: 7
Efficiency: 6
Style: 8
Luxury: 8
Overall Ranking: 7.4

Lincolns are nice vehicles that are great for long trips. With steady power and nice interiors around the board, they certainly have their perks, but tend to lack efficiency and can get a little pricey for what you’re getting.

https://www.jeep.com/

Favorite Model: Jeep Cherokee
Safety: 8
Power: 8
Efficiency: 6
Style: 7
Luxury: 7
Overall Ranking: 7.2

Most people know what they’re getting with a Jeep. Nice features and excellent off-roading vehicles (great for the summer), but are notorious for getting sub-par gas mileage. We’re also not huge on the design of them, but overall very nice cars.

Cigar City Brewing

Location: Tampa
Favorite Beer: Jai Alai IPA

From their year-round beers to their specialty brews, Cigar City never fails to impress us. The quality of their beer is what made them a national brewery over the last few years. They have a cute little tasting room and offer tours of the brewery every day but Sunday. You won’t regret it!

M.I.A Brewing

Location: Doral
Favorite Beer: Neon White IPA

We’re not usually into as many floral, mosaic beers, but M.I.A does them right! Designed to be enjoyed outside, M.I.A’s array of beers satisfy just about anyone’s cravings (and thirst). Like the intention of their beer consumption, the energy of the brewery is very active, hosting events fairly regularly.

Due South Brewing Company

Location: Boynton Beach
Favorite Beer: Category 5 IPA

Due South is a beautiful beach-themed brewery that offers everything you can ask for. Seriously, they even have competitors’ beers available! They have short but at the same time pretty extensive tours and lots of great food too. Due South is more of an afternoon trip, rather than a quick stop.

Wynwood Brewing Company

Location: Miami
Favorite Beer: Lock On

A small, intimate taproom with lesser-known beers might just be what you’re looking for. The constant cycling of beers on tap ensures you’ll never grow bored and the daily specials keep your budget in check. The variety of blends is what really stood out to us, this stop is more for the flavors than the experience.

Deadly Sins Brewing

Location: Winter Park
Favorite Beer: The Grove

The atmosphere is among our favorites here at Deadline Sins. It’s a very active crowd that loves to run on Thursdays and have a fun array of live music playing on the weekends. Pet-friendly, with a relaxation guarantee, you can always count on a fun time. Oh yeah, the beer is pretty tasty too!

3 Daughters Brewing

Location: St. Petersburg
Favorite Beer: Whiskey Porter

We can appreciate 3 Daughters for their unique selection of beers. Most places have the essentials, then a few different styles for variety, but 3 Daughters totally dances to their own drum. We particularly enjoy their stouts and porters. In addition to the drinks, they have a really solid food selection to the point that they’re basically a restaurant.

Green Room Brewing, LLC

Location: Jacksonville Beach
Favorite Beer: Double Overhead

The Green Room is among one of the more inclusive communities. They hose everything from running clubs, to ping pong tournaments all in the name of fun. Their seasonal beers are pretty special, definitely check out their sour and gose beers. The taproom is a BYOF and is dog-friendly, so feel free to have a family picnic with some of the best beer in the area!

7venth Sun Brewing

Location: Dunedin
Favorite Beer: America FYA

The small, cozy taproom is often pretty relaxed – perfect for trying some of the awesome beers. We admit 7venth Sun is probably one of the less eventful breweries on our list, but it’s not bad to take a break. Bottom line, the beer here is worth all of your attention!

Idyll Hounds Brewing Company

Location: Santa Rosa Beach
Favorite Beer: Divide & Conch’r

Idyll Hounds is all about getting some sun with your brew! They open bright and early, so you can drive down to the beach afterwards – we consider Idyll Hounds more of a stop, but a fun one at that.

Riptide Brewing Company

Location: Naples
Favorite Beer: Barrel Aged Dark Sour

An all-around ball of fun, Riptide will take you away! It has just about everything you look for in a solid brewery, from live music to food trucks, games, and oh yeah… great beer! They have a really cool, tight community that’s always down to have a lot of fun!

Everything’s bigger in Texas and that includes the appetites. So what better than to have classic Texan barbecue? Take a look at our top 10 Texan barbecue joints and pay them a visit when you’re in the area!

NAME: Kreuz Market
SMOKE TYPE:Post Oak
COOKING METHOD: Indirect-Heat Brick Pit
LOCATION: Lockhart

When scouting great BBQ joints, you have to try original-style and that’s just what you can find a Kreuz! They prepare, just about any kind of meat (their sausages are ridiculously good). They’ve been around since 1900 and not by coincidence.

NAME: Evie Mae’s Pit Barbecue
SMOKE TYPE:Oak Wood
COOKING METHOD: Offset Smoker
LOCATION: Wolfforth

If you like rich, smokey meats, you’d be foolish not to give Evie Mae’s a visit. As good as everything is, when we think of Evie Mae’s, we think of their savory brisket. Their burnt ends are pretty good too, but in reality, anything you get will be good enough that you’ll want to get one for the road, too!

NAME: Harris Bar-B-Que
SMOKE TYPE:Hickory/Miscellaneous Wood
COOKING METHOD: Reverse-Flow Smoker
LOCATION: Waxahachie

A delicious source of comfort food, Harris’ simply makes you feel at home. We consider Harris’ to be our favorite destination for a quick lunch, perfect for busy days. Their ribs and artisan sandwiches are good enough to make your mouth water and we guarantee you’ll want to go back at least once.

NAME: Stanley’s Famous Pit Barbecue
SMOKE TYPE:Gas-Fired
COOKING METHOD: Heat Pit
LOCATION: Tyler

Oh, Stanley’s. Not only is the food to die for, but this place has the energy of Texas fun. They always keep local craft beer on tap, have live music on the weekends and an atmosphere that will help you feel what some call “the true spirit of modern Texas”. But let’s get to their food… they do everything from breakfast to dinner, all include unbelievably prepared meats and rich, filling sides.

NAME: Louie Mueller Barbecue
SMOKE TYPE:Pecan/Oak
COOKING METHOD: Indirect-Heat Pit
LOCATION: Taylor

Here we have a small, quiet establishment that’s been around for about 40 years. But don’t let that fool you. With baby back ribs and pulled pork sandwiches that make you contemplate the value of a pig, we’re certain you’ll love Louie Mueller’s!

NAME: Pody’s BBQ
SMOKE TYPE:Pecan/Oak
COOKING METHOD: Offset Smoker + Rotisserie
LOCATION: Location

Other than awesome barbecue, the first word we think of when we hear “Pody’s” is fun. The staff are always super friendly and almost gives off the feeling of a family. The wide-open rooms kind of gave us the brewery vibe, as did the attention.

NAME: Hutchins BBQ
SMOKE TYPE:Pecan/Oak
COOKING METHOD: Indirect-Heat Pits
LOCATION: McKinny

Man, the juicy meat served here are something else. The variety alone makes us wish we could go back to Hutchins every week. Though from what we had in our short time there, the pulled pork sandwiches were the best we’ve had anywhere. The atmosphere also screams authentic Texas and you can tell the owners love what they do.

NAME: Bodacious Bar-B-Q
SMOKE TYPE:Mesquite/Post Oak
COOKING METHOD: Various Pits/Offset/Indirect-Heat
LOCATION: Tyler

The atmosphere at Bodacious speaks friendly and authentic, which works for their attitude and unbelievable barbecue! You can tell they care. They love what they do and it shows with every step (and flip) they take.

NAME: Luling City Market
SMOKE TYPE:Post Oak –
COOKING METHOD: Indirect -Heat Pit
LOCATION: Houston

For the best barbecue in Houston, look no farther than Luling City Market! Their brisket and sausages are amazing, especially with their special sauce that is also sold on the side. Just seeing them rub-down the top tier meats is enough to get your wallet out. Pay them a visit!

NAME: Joseph’s Riverport Bar-B-Cue
SMOKE TYPE:Post Oak
COOKING METHOD: Indirect-Heat Pit
LOCATION: Jefferson

Like others on this list, Josephs is awesome. What makes them stand out is how they spice and season their meats, it really makes the taste come together. The food is fresh and their variety is extensive enough to keep you coming back. Prices aren’t too bad either!

When it comes to delicious, messy grub, nothing quite matches up to a good Philly Cheesesteak. So let’s head over to the homeland; these are the 10 best spots to grab a Philly Cheesesteaks. Just remember these are in no particular order… that was too difficult of a task, even for us.

NAME: Tony Luke’s
LOCATION: 39 E Oregon Ave

When you think of a Philly Cheesesteak, Tony Luke’s might be the first one that comes to mind. They’re both the meatiest and the cheesiest concoctions you can find, really speaking to the heart of South Philly. While there are a bunch of locations (all delicious) we recommend visiting the original first.

NAME: Pat’s King of Steaks
LOCATION: 1237 E. Passyunk Ave

Two things stood out to us at Pat’s – the golden cheese and those crispy fries! The world-famous establishment is a great lunch spot if you don’t have much to do after because it fills you up and sometimes tires you out (but it’s totally worth it).

NAME: John’s Roast Pork
LOCATION: 14 East Snyder Ave

If you want to add a little Italian to your cheesesteak experience, head over to John’s! Here you can find large, meaty cheesesteaks with delicious seasonings and if you want more, try their Italian-style cuisine, including chicken parmesan, meatball subs, Italian sausage and more!

NAME: Jim Steaks
LOCATION: 400 South St

Jim’s is your ideal West Philly-style cheesesteaks that have made a name for themselves for almost 90 years! The fresh bread, savory meats, creamy cheese and delicious onions make the case for them being one of the favorites.

NAME: Geno’s Steaks
LOCATION: 1219 S 9th St

You can see the bright neon lights from a mile and you will hear praise from even farther away. It was impossible not to include Geno’s on our list because of the ridiculously good (and filling) cheesesteaks they have. Oh, and the hoagies aren’t too bad either!

NAME: McNally’s Tavern
LOCATION: 8634 Germantown Ave

Looking for more of a sit-down experience? McNally’s offers more of an “old school” feel with its history practically bleeding through the walls. Enjoy your cheesesteak with an ice-cold beer or a glass of wine with a friend, which makes it an even more fun experience, if you know what we mean!

NAME: Campo’s
LOCATION: 214 Market St

Unlike most on this list, Campo’s doesn’t necessarily specialize on cheesesteaks, but that doesn’t make them any less delicious. It only makes their other things that much better. Their sandwich shop is nothing short of a delight, but that’s not why you’re here. Their golden cheesesteaks are as good as they get, making them an easy addition for our list!

NAME: Dalessandro’s Steaks
LOCATION: 600 Wendover St

While we don’t exactly know the best cheesesteak… we do think the steak part is best at Dalessandro’s. Maybe it’s where they get it, maybe it’s the way it’s cooked – we’re not sure. But what we DO know is their cheesesteaks and hoagies are amazing and easily belong on this list.

NAME: Steve Prince of Steaks
LOCATION: 7200 Bustleton Ave

You can’t miss the neon signs, so you might as well pay them a visit. Steve’s might have an extensive menu but the real love is in their rich and creamy cheesesteaks. You might want a nap afterwards, but it’s well worth the perfect steak-to-cheese ratio!

NAME: Shank’s Original
LOCATION: 901 S Christopher Columbus Blvd

The warm and satisfying cheesesteaks are just part of the menu at Shank’s, but arguably the best. The vintage-style recipes are hard to pass on so do yourself a favor and give them a try.
